Mozambique’s economy is expected to grow by 5% in 2023, up from 4.1% seen last year, the Southern African country’s finance minister Ernesto Max Tonela said on Tuesday.
In the medium term, growth for the period 2024-2026 is projected to average 6% to 7%, Tonela told a press conference.
However, the minister warned that Mozambique, which earlier this year was battered by Cyclone Freddy, remained vulnerable to further climatic shocks, the conflict in Ukraine and the resulting volatility of commodity prices.
