A security guard so far unidentified died on Sunday after being attacked by a group of criminals during a warehouse robbery in the Matola ‘A’ neighbourhood, Maputo province.
The spokesperson for the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Maputo province, Carmínia Leite, said that the criminals scaled the premises’ perimeter wall and opened the warehouse gate using bolt-cutters.
Leite said that one of the security guards on duty, realising that the criminals had gained access, fired two shots to scare them off, but they resisted and neutralised the guards before making off with 20 aluminium profiles and one pistol.
Leite said that the PRM and the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) were working relentlessly on arresting the murderers and holding them criminally accountable.
