The Secretary of State for Industry, Custódia Paunde, received the CEO of the company IRC Minerals and Metals, Lda, Himanshu Sharma, in her office yesterday, in a meeting that served to assess the progress of the iron magnetite processing project underway in Moatize district, Tete province.
According to what was shared at the meeting, the project is about 60% complete, particularly with regard to the installation of machinery and equipment.
The initiative aims to transform iron ore into raw material for use in coal processing plants, in addition to contemplating the possible export of the product.
The project is expected to contribute significantly to the increase in the country’s industrial production, boosting the local transformation of mineral resources and creating new jobs.
The meeting is part of the government’s efforts to closely monitor ongoing industrial investments with a view to promoting industrialization within the scope of the National Program to Industrialize Mozambique (PRONAI).
