The Secretary of State for Maputo province has appealed to companies to fulfil their social responsibilities to the communities within which they operate.
Henriques Bongence recalled with concern recent cases in some parts of the province of the population invading companies which had not fulfilled their social responsibility obligations.
“One of the concerns that made me visit was those small outbreaks that arose for the destruction of some enterprises, allegedly because they did not pay social responsibility,”Bongence said.
“Yesterday we had a meeting with major businessmen, at the level of our province, especially in Namaacha, to communicate to them that they must pay what they promised as a social responsibility, but it cannot be the population that goes invading and demanding it, it has to be through the government, the local government, the district government, the administrative post and in the end it may be the responsibility of the provincial government, together with the companies, to instil and make the payment.”
This Saturday, Secretary of State Bongence province visited two manufacturing units in
Namaacha district – one for cheese and the other for chicken.
