MSF: Violence in Cabo Delgado sparks new wave of mass displacement as needs surge

The Health Ministry of Mozambique said on Saturday that the cost for diagnosing and treating patients with COVID-19 could vary from 171 up to 3,000 U.S. dollars.
Armindo Tiago, the minister of health, said at the daily briefing on the pandemic in Maputo that suspicious cases that test negative for COVID-19 have the lowest cost of 171.6 U.S. dollars.
The asymptomatic patients, which resulted in positive, will cost 600 U.S. dollars, and a patient with severe symptoms costs 2,400 U.S. dollars, he said.
“On the day if we have a patient in critical condition it will cost 2,800 for the patient’s hospitalisation,” he said. According to the minister, the costs do not include other expenses such as the payments for energy, funeral in case of death and other elements.
