Mozambique: Sasol sponsors 2022 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations

Sasol is once again backing Mozambican sports. This time through the sponsorship of the Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations – Vilankulo 2022. On Tuesday, 10 May 2022 at the Sasol offices in Maputo Sasol announced the sponsorship for an amount of US$300.000, approximately 19 million meticais, and signed an agreement with the Vilankulo Municipality who are organising the event.

The sponsorship will help the Vilankulo Municipality to secure the logistics for the Beach Soccer championships, including the construction of the Vilankulo Arena that will host the games.

Sasol’s Vice President Country Management and Corporate Affairs, Ovídio Rodolfo, explained that company’s strategy is to support initiatives in culture and sports, in addition to the work with Social Investment. “Once again, we are here supporting sports, through an event that is an important booster to local economic activities, with particular focus on hospitality and tourism and services related to it.”

The Sports General Inspector, Sidónio Chavisse, representing the Secretary of State for Sports, said that Sasol stands out among the various companies that are in Mozambique, with regards to support to sports. “We thank Sasol for once again embracing a national initiative as strategic as the 2022 Beach Soccer Championship, to be held in Vulankulo.”

African Cup of Nations Beach Soccer Championship signing event, apart from being attended by the representatives of the Municipality of Vilankulo, Sasol’s staff in Mozambique and the State Secretariat for Sports, included the participation of the Mozambican Football Federation (FMF), which was represented by its Vice-President Administration and Finance, Jorge Bambo. Sasol in Mozambique, along with other Social Investment initiatives is supporting the Women’s Basketball League, for three seasons, as well as district Football championships in Inhassoro and Vilankulo.
