Mozambique: Sasol-sponsored surf championship held in Tofo, Inhambane – Photos

The Tofo Surf Series was held on the beach of Tofo in Inhambane Province on the 17th and 18th of December. The event, now in its third year, is an initiative of the Boardriders Association, with the goals of providing leisure and recreation, promoting healthy lifestyles, and boosting Inhambane’s tourism.

Elvira Chaque, representing the Secretary of State in Inhambane, supports the continuation of this sport and encourages the participation of the athletes, who are the pioneers of national competitions and will represent Mozambique in international competitions.

According to the president of the Mozambican Surf Association, Bruno Lopez, Mozambique’s participation in a world surfing championship is drawing closer due to the support of Sasol.

This competition involved 75 athletes of varying ages, a 25% increase over the first edition held in June of this year. The competition was divided into six categories.
