Sasol is contributing towards the improvement of access to drinking water in schools in Govuro and Inhassoro Districts. The contribution includes a donation of 3 water and sanitation systems officially delivered to the Chimedje and Maluvane Primary Schools (Govuro District) and, Temane Primary School (Inhassoro District), on 31 January 2023. The initiative benefits about 1693 members of the 3 school communities, including learners and educators.
The donation of the water supply systems is part of Local Development Agreements (LDAs), signed with 28 communities in Inhassoro District and 9 in Govuro, as part of its strategic projects’ component. Eight new water and sanitation systems are expected to be delivered this year to the same number of schools in Inhassoro and Govuro districts.
The systems delivered include 1 water borehole, 1 supply tower and 3 standpipes distributed in a radius of 500 to 1000 meters.
Since the start of the programme, in July 2020, 74 boreholes, 8 water systems and 4 public toilets have been rehabilitated and 10 new boreholes have been delivered in the districts of Inhassoro and Govuro.
