Gemfields, the world’s largest supplier of coloured gemstones, has partnered with New York Fashion Week to take Mozambican rubies to the catwalks.
The company began its campaign on Sunday with a one-day exhibition and with a private event to celebrate rubies, love and the colour red.
The partnership will help create awareness of the rubies that Gemfields recently discovered in Mozambique, a revelation for a jewellery industry thwarted by trade restrictions with Burma, another big supplier.
