Mozambique will next August introduce malaria vaccinations, as part of its actions to prevent and combat the disease.
Immunisation will take place in phases, with the province of Zambézia leading the way.
The announcement was made on Thursday by Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Ivan Manhiça, at the opening of the XIV National Meeting of the National Program to Combat Malaria, in the city of Beira.
Manhiça reported that vaccination was administered in four doses, and that Mozambique was already registering a reduction in malaria cases and deaths due to a combinations of measures already being rolled out.
The XIV National Meeting of the National Program to Combat Malaria took place under the motto: “Promoting access to health services, gender equity and human rights to end malaria.”
