Mozambique’s national soccer team, the Mambas, has risen five places in the FIFA ranking, updated on Thursday by world football’s governing body.
The Mambas, with 1,167 points, now occupy the 117th position, a rise resulting from their 1-0 victory over Zambia on 18 November, which counts towards the 5th and penultimate CAN-2019 Group K qualifying round.
With qualification for the CAN to be sealed by the match against Guinea Bissau on March 23, 2019, the Abel Xavier-trained national team stands to secure an even bigger leap in the rankings.
The Mambas currently rank third in Group K with seven points, one point less than Guinea-Bissau and Namibia, who currently share the lead.
