The Mozambique Road Network (REVIMO) intends to resume toll collection at all toll stations under its management from next Monday (27-01).
A source from the company quoted by Radio Mozambique said today that steps preparatory to resuming toll collection were already underway.
REVIMO was forced to suspend toll collection by acts of vandalism carried out during the post-election protests.
Former presidential candidate and “Shadow President of the Government” Venâncio Mondlane, who led the demonstrations, “decreed” that toll fees throughout the country remain suspended until 27 April, as part of his recently announced “100-day governance measures” programme.
Last week, without informing users, the TRAC road concessionaire attempting to resume tolling at the Maputo toll on the N4, but motorists protested against the measure, and until this Wednesday, traffic through tolls in Mozambique has remained free of charge.
