The contracts of around 1,380 employees at the toll gates destroyed during the post-election tension, which are under the management of REVIMO, an institution that says it has already accumulated losses of 655 million Meticais, have been suspended.
Of the approximately 1,380 people who had their contracts suspended, 380 were direct workers at toll gates that were vandalized during the post-election tension and around a thousand provided services to the concessionaire, Revimo.
According to a source linked to Revimo, the suspension of contracts began on March 1st, in the wake of the losses that the concessionaire has been accumulating, which already amount to 655 million Meticais.
Of the 16 toll plazas managed by Revimo nationwide, only four are in operation.
REVIMO’s decision does not only affect the direct workers of the toll gates that were destroyed during the demonstrations. Services such as surveillance, picketing, cleaning, among others, were also suspended. In total, 1004 employees had their contracts suspended.
However, Revimo guarantees that it has paid salaries up to February of this year to all workers affected by the suspension of contracts. It is expected that, with the resolution of the conflict, the targets of the suspension can be reinstated.
