The Mozambican government announced on Tuesday that the current Medicines Law is to be reviewed in order to adjust to the current social and economic context which inspires a greater rigour and safety in the use of pharmaceuticals, writes Notícias . The measure is aimed at ensuring greater rigour in the use of drugs in the country, Noticias reports.
The proposal to be submitted to parliament was approved at the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers and provides for the establishment of rules for the production, distribution, quality assurance and efficient and safe delivery of medicines.
According to Deputy Health Minister and spokesman for the Council of Ministers, Mouzinho Saide, the review forms part of necessary adjustments to the current stage of the country’s development, and is simultaneously intended to guarantee patient’s right to information and better implementation of medication production regimes.
The measure will also address concern over new biological pharmaceuticals which, according to the same source, have come into production in the last ten years.
