WOAH donates 100,000 rabies vaccines to Mozambique

A 69-year-old Mozambican woman died of Covid-19 in Maputo on Sunday, the Ministry of Health (MISAU) announced on Monday, her condition having worsened during hospitalisation.
A further 48 new cases bring to 17,002 the cumulative total of positive cases confirmed since last March, 16,689 of which are deemed of local transmission and 313 imported.
Of the new cases, 47 are Mozambicans and the nationality of one is yet to be determined. All infections occurred in Mozambique.
According to the Ministry of Health, 188 more people have recovered from the coronavirus, 152 in Maputo, 12 in Zambézia province, 10 in Nampula, the same number in Manica and four in Inhambane.
Of the patients newly reported as free of Covid-19, 186 are Mozambican nationals, one Chinese and one Korean.
In Mozambique, 15,006 people (88.3%) are deemed fully recovered from the disease, while 1,849 remain infected. Of these active cases, Maputo city has the highest number of infections (1,458), followed by Maputo province with 139.
Mozambique has cumulatively tested 249,302 people suspected of infection since the first case was announced on 22 March this year.
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused at least 1,612,297 deaths among the more than 72.1 million cases of infection worldwide, according to a report by the French AFP press agency.
