The Ministry of Health reported on Sunday [January 31] that a further four patients have died with Covid-19, three Mozambicans and one foreigner, three in Maputo city and one in Cabo Delgado province. Of these, three deaths were declared yesterday and one was declared today.
The Ministry of Health also reported 949 newly diagnosed cases,bringing the cumulative number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Mozambique since the outbreak to 38.654,.
The ages of the 949 new cases reported today today are as follows:
Of the 949 newly diagnosed cases, reported this Sunday, 942 are Mozambicans, five are foreigners and the nationalities of two others are yet to be determined; 527 (55.5%) are women or girls and 422 (44.5%) are men or boys . All the new cases reported today are local transmissions.
The city of Maputo registered 417 new cases, corresponding to 43.9% of the total cases reported today in the country. It was followed by the province of Maputo, with 211 cases (22.2%].
MISAU reports that, in the last 24 hours, a further 37 patients were hospitalised and 48 were discharged.
There are currently 305 hospitalised patients in the country, of whom 227 (74.4%) are in Maputo city, 19 in Sofala, 17 in Maputo province, 17 in Tete province, nine in Zambézia, seven in Gaza, three in Manica province, two in Inhambane province, two in Nampula and two in Cabo Delgado .
The number of recoveries rose to 23.955 (62%), with 10 more reported today.
Mozambique has so far reported a cumulative number of 38.654 confirmed cases of Covid-19, since the outbreak was first detected in the country, in March 2020. Of these, 38.338 are of local transmission and 316 imported.
