Mozambique: Renamo accuses FDS of abducting and murdering party members in Sofala

The Mozambican National Resistance (Renamo) has accused the Defence and Security Forces (FDS) of kidnapping and murdering its members in Sofala.

The accusation was made in the city of Beira by the member of Renamo’s National Political Commission, Alfredo Magumisse, at a press conference on Thursday (October 1).

The party claims that, since last year, more than ten members of Renamo have been abducted and murdered by the defence and security forces in the villages of Metuchira and Macorococho [Nhamatanda district], on the grounds of allegedly supporting the so-called ‘Military Junta’.

The party says that the most recent case occurred at the end of last month.

This was the second time in less than a month that Renamo has publicly alleged the kidnapping and murder of its members in Sofala.
