At least 27 civil servants charged with corruption in central Mozambique

Mozambique registered 55 more cases of COVID-19 from Friday (June 5) to Saturday (June 6), bringing the cumulative number of cases in the country to 409 and community transmission was found in the northern province of Nampula, said the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
Speaking at a press conference in Nampula, Health Minister Armindo Tiago said the province is currently witnessing a rapid spread of the disease.
“According to the findings from the assessment of the epidemiological situation of COVID-19 in Nampula, we want to inform that the assumption of the community transmission in the city of Nampula has been proved”, said the minister.
Tiago said that the epidemiological profile of Nampula is different from the rest of the country.

Health authorities have been trying to establish the PCR-testing capacity in the city of Nampula, where the transformation of the laboratory infrastructure is in progress and the equipment assembly will soon begin, said the minister.
The health official said that authorities are intensifying the actions on hygiene and sanitation, education on COVID-19 prevention and are preparing for epidemiological surveys to determine the magnitude of the infection in the region.
