Mozambique reported another 20 coronavirus infections on Tuesday, national director of Public Health Rosa Marlene, announced, with 25 more patients deemed fully recovered
Of the samples tested in the previous 24 hours, one came from Niassa province, 32 from Cabo Delgado, 103 from Nampula, 49 from Zambézia, seven from Maputo province and 246 from Maputo city.
Of the new suspected cases tested, 674 came back negative and 20 were positive for Covid-19. Thirteen tests were performed in the public sector and seven in the private sector.
This brings Mozambique’s cumulative total, by Tuesday, June 23, to 757 positive cases, 687 of which are local transmissions and 70 imported cases.
The cases reported yesterday include 14 Mozambicans and six individuals of Chinese nationality. All cases are locally transmitted and were detected as the result of contact tracking and active surveillance in health facilities.
All cases reported on Tuesday are in quarantine at home, and their recent contacts are being traced.
“We wish to inform you that, in the last 24 hours, we registered the discharge of a patient hospitalized in Nampula province, who will now continue to recover in home isolation. Additionally, in the same province, one individual was admitted to hospital. The country therefore currently has nine individuals hospitalized with Covid-19, of which four are in the province of Nampula, three in the city of Maputo, with one in the province of Sofala and one in Gaza. They all have mild to moderate symptoms and have a good clinical prognoses,” Rosa Marlene told Tuesday’s press conference.
“We also want to inform you that we have recorded as fully recovered from Covid-19, 25 patients – 17 in Nampula province, five in Sofala, two in Tete and one in Maputo province. All individuals are of Mozambican nationality and recovered in isolation home,” Rosa Marlene added
Mozambique had, by Tuesday, five deaths attributed to Covid-19, and 206 patients deemed fully recovered.
