Mozambique: Matlombe says Ressano Garcia and Machipanda borders will have integrated systems

Based on data from the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM), the number of domestic violence cases recorded by police authorities in Mozambique dropped by around 10% from 2018 to 2019, the National Statistics Institute (INE) has announced.
The overall reduction reflects different realities according to age, the new “Statistics on Domestic Violence, Criminal and Civil Cases” bulletin consulted by Lusa today reads.
Among minors aged 17 and under, there was a 45% reduction, while among adults, reported cases of violence grew by 6%.
In 2019, 4,388 cases of domestic violence against minors under 17 and 19,988 cases against adults were reported to the authorities.
Girls and women are the main victims.
The provinces of Sofala and Manica had the highest number of reported cases of violence against minors (537 and 526 respectively), while Maputo province and city led in complaints of violence against adults (3,803 and 2,682 respectively).
According to the latest INE bulletin, 522 cases of violence against elderly people were reported in 2019, 65% of the victims of which were female and 35% male.
