Mozambique’s Minister of Transport and Communications, Mateus Magala, has challenged Mozambique Railways (CFM) and Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) to transport 60% of mineral cargo on the rail system through the Port from Maputo.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 8th Maputo Port Conference, Magala highlighted that improving the ratio between road and rail cargo would increase the efficiency and sustainability of logistics operations in the corridor, as well as reducing environmental impacts.
“That’s why I am challenging those involved in the Maputo Corridor logistics chain, especially the CFM and MPDC, to achieve this goal within the next three years,” Magala said.
