The prosecutor’s office in Cabo Delgado province, northern Mozambique, has indicted 11 Pakistanis detained in the region for almost a year for drug trafficking and criminal association.
The group was arrested on 23 December 2019 onboard a ship off the bay of Pemba, the provincial capital, with 126 kilos of heroin and 229 kilos of methamphetamines.
During questioning, the defendants, between the ages of 20 and 70, said they were carrying the drug from Pakistan to another ship on the high seas that would take the cargo to the American continent.
In the operation, 13 Pakistanis were arrested, but two died between 27 December 2019, allegedly due to overdoses of heroin.
