CPLP: Mozambique MPs ask for reopening of Guinea-Bissau parliament, but pledge non-interference

Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi on Thursday (11-02) welcomed the appointment of Father Inácio Lucas as bishop of the diocese of Gurué, in the province of Zambézia, central Mozambique.
In a message adviesses to the new bishop, the President wrote:
“I am sure that with your leadership and wisdom, we will continue to strengthen the excellent relations existing between the Government of Mozambique and the Catholic Church and, for that, you can count on my personal commitment. Please accept, Inácio Lucas Mwita, Bishop of Gurué, the assurances of my t consideration and esteem.and renewed wishes for good health and success in carrying out your noble responsibilities ”, reads the message from President Nyusi
Father Inácio Lucas, member of the diocesan clergy of Nacala (Nampula), was appointed by Pope Francis Bishop of Gurué on February 2. He takes up the post after the death of Francisco Lerma on 24 April, 2019.

The diocese of Gurué was created in 1993 by Pope John Paul II, dividing what was until then the diocese of Quelimane, provincial capital of Zambézia.
The city of Gurué serves as the seat of the diocese, with the church of Saint Anthony of Lisbon serving as its cathedral and celebrating the mandatory patronal feast on 13 June.
