Mozambique Elections: Frelimo leadership denounces 'political intolerance' amid protests

The European Union Training Mission was received on Friday by President Nyusi, marking the start of EU support to capacity-building of Mozambican defence and security forces.
For two years, the mission will train and train the Navy and the Army Special Forces in order to improve their response capabilities in the face of terrorism.

The European Union mission will be commanded by Brigadier Nuno Lemos Pires, a Portuguese national.
“The European Union is made up of 27 States and all of them approved the support for this mission. Which means that we will have military personnel from various nations here to work side by side, shoulder to shoulder with the Mozambican Defence and Security Forces, to set up special forces units of the navy and the army, to better perform the missions in defence of the populations .”, said Brigadier Nuno Lemos Pires, who sees the mission as a sign of trust and one of great responsibility for all members.
“This is what moves us, this is what will put us to work every day with the military to defend the populations of Mozambique, on the side of Mozambique”.
The mission was received on Friday by the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, in an act that marked the beginning of actions in Mozambique.
