Maputo, Aug. 22 (Lusa) – Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi has promised children in primary schools will have the opportunity to sit at desks instead of floors by 2019.
“We are going to comply with our promise, which is inscribed in our governing programme,” Nyusi said on Tuesday during the delivery of 16,800 desks in the province of Gaza in southern Mozambique.
Children will no longer be sitting on the floor by next year, he said, adding that his agenda was “only one, which is working for the good of the people.”
Primary schools in Mozambique, especially in rural areas, face a problem of lack of desks, meaning children are forced to study in discomfort.
