The Mozambican President, Filipe Nyusi, on Wednesday committed to simplify procedures for the entry of Russian business into Mozambique.
“We will simplify and facilitate procedures to ensure active participation in the promotion of business and investment with Russia,” said the Mozambican head of state, quoted Wednesday by the private channel STV.
Filipe Nyusi was speaking in Moscow during the Mozambique-Russia Business Forum, which brought together nearly 400 Russian and Mozambican entrepreneurs to discuss opportunities for the business sector in both countries.
In addition to defence and security, other areas in which the two countries want to strengthen cooperation are the gas and oil sector, taking into account Moscow’s experience as one of the world’s largest producers.
Nyusi has been in Russia since Tuesday for a four-day working visit, which comes at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The meeting between the two Presidents is scheduled for Thursday.
The Mozambican head of state included in his entourage the Ministers of Defence, Atanásio Mtumuke, of Mineral Resources and Energy, Max Tonela, in addition to Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Maria Lucas, Science and Technology, Higher and Technical Education, Leda Hugo.
Russia elected 2019 as a year of strengthening relations with Africa and a summit is scheduled in October between Moscow and African countries.
