The President of Botswana is paying a state visit to Mozambique between Wednesday and Friday this week, to deepen bilateral cooperation, the Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo, said on Monday (08-07).
Macamo announced the visit of Mokgweetsi Masisi at the end of the eighth session of the Joint Cooperation Commission between the governments of Mozambique and Botswana.
“The conclusion of eight legal instruments to be signed during the next state visit (….) represents a clear sign of interest in deepening cooperation,” said the head of Mozambican diplomacy.
The signing of the agreements “will certainly constitute a testimony and commitment from the two governments to continue working together towards the progress and well-being of the people of Mozambique and Botswana”, Verónica Macamo stressed.
Macamo declared that the eighth session of the Joint Cooperation Commission held in Maputo produced “concrete and tangible results”, including an evaluation of the experience exchange program in the areas of politics and diplomacy, defence and security and economic and social affairs, as well as the exchange of views and consultation on bilateral, regional, continental and international issues.
Developments on the creation of a permanent joint defence and security commission, preparation of a meeting between Botswana, Mozambique and Zimbabwe and the status of the implementation of the Techobanine port project were also scrutinised.
