Mozambique: Government decrees three days of national mourning for Pope Francis

The President of the Republic received four Letters of Credence from the same number of Ambassadors this Thursday, calling on the occasion for coordinated work to improve existing diplomatic relations.
The four are Ronald Munch, ambassador-designate of the Federal Republic of Germany, Alain Gaschen, ambassador-designate of the Swiss Confederation, Tegan Brink, high commissioner-designate of Australia and Noralyn Baja, ambassador-designate of the Republic of the Philippines.
Speaking during the meeting with the head of state, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Verónica Macamo, highlighted the expansion of cooperation with the four countries.
“The President of the Republic sketched out for the four ambassadors the political, economic and social situation of the country, especially the electoral cycles, the progress made in combating terrorism and violent extremism in Cabo Delago and the massive assistance provided to the displaced,” Minister Macamo later reported.
President Nyusi took the opportunity to welcome the strengthening and progression of relations with Australia. “The Mozambican partnership with the Australian has expanded, progressed and strengthened, covering several areas, such as education,, health, food security, water, sanitation, demining and mining industry”, he highlighted.
