The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, is holding talks with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, in Paris today, in the scope of strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation between the two states.
The talks will take place before President Nyusi participates in the Summit on Financing African Economies in Paris this afternoon.

At the end of the talks, several agreements are expected to be signed, with the emphasis on a memorandum of understanding on political consultations on matters of mutual interest between the ministers of Foreign Affairs of Mozambique and France.
In addition to assessing bilateral relations, presidents Nyusi and Macron will identify new areas in relations between Mozambique and France.
In bilateral relations with France, at least four agreements are expected to be signed. These include a memorandum on political consultations and exchanges of information between the heads of diplomacy in both countries; secondly, a memorandum between the Bank of Mozambique, the French Embassy in Maputo and the French Development Agency (AFD) for technical assistance to the Mozambican Central Bank to combat money laundering; thirdly, a financing agreement between the AFD and Mozambique’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, to support the reduction of EDM’s non-technical losses.
The fourth concerns Mozambique’s public debt to France, which, since 2001, has been converted by France into lines of credit in several areas.
The above-mentioned form part of a set of 10 agreements which are still being harmonised between the parties.
