Mozambique: President Nyusi extends condolences to Malawian counterpart

President Filipe Nyusi has sent a message of condolences to his Malawian counterpart on the death of two government ministers there.

“It was with a feeling of deep shock that I became aware of the unexpected departure of Ministers from your Government, namely Sedik Mia, Vice-President of the Malawi Congress Party and Minister of Transport and Public Works, and Mr. Lingson Belekanyama, Minister of Local Governments and Rural Development,” the message from the Mozambican Head of State reads, adding that the physical disappearance of “these brothers” represents a huge loss, not only for the Malawian people, “but for all of us”.

The Mozambican Head of State ends his message with an expression of confidence that, despite this tragedy, Malawians will find the strength to overcome all obstacles and transform pain and loss into renewed energies to respond more effectively to the challenges arising from Covid-19.
