The head of state, Filipe Nyusi, has congratulated the ‘Mambas’ – Mozambique’s national football team – on their 2-2 draw with Egypt.
Speaking on Televisão de Moçambique after the game last night, the head of state said that “it was clear that the draw is not our result, but we have to accept it”.
“Once again, I want to thank the people for the support and affection they gave to the Mambas, including people who were at the stadium. It is not yet time to claim victory. We will continue to support the national team, because it shows confidence. They conceded an early goal, but were not intimidated. If it weren’t for VAR, we would have won the game,” the President of the Republic said.
“Congratulations to the Mambas. We are not just any. We will continue to work, supporting the youth, even in difficult times,” he said,
“We will continue to think the same way for the next game. We cannot let ourselves be carried away by the draw with Egypt. We have to continue to play our game. Our objective is to win; if not, we must not lose. Let’s congratulate the technical team, the boys, including the Mozambican Football Federation, as these results come from the work that everyone has done,” the President’s message concluded.
