Mozambique: Govt working in coordination with Russia regarding ambassador's death - official

The President of Mozambique has defended the strengthening of joint work with countries that have diplomatic representation in the country in response to climate change, terrorism and the improvement of health and education system.
President Nyusi was speaking this Friday at the ceremony to receive letters of credentials from 12 ambassadors, the first group of heads of diplomatic missions to be accredited in the country this year.
A total of 12 ambassadors appointed by Egypt, Spain, Algeria, India, Japan, as well as Lithuania, Belarus, Ivory Coast, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Rwanda and Poland were received by Filipe Nyusi last Friday (02-02).
Representing the head of state, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Verónica Macamo spoke to the press about the country’s priorities for the year.
“The President of the Republic, Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, shared the priorities of the Government of Mozambique for the year 2024, highlighting the continued promotion of peace and security in the world, in the course of activities at the United Nations Security Council, the continuation of the fight against terrorism and violent extremism in Cabo Delgado in order to establish peace and security and ensure the holding of free, fair and transparent general elections on October 9th of this year,” Minister Macamo said.
Filipe Nyusi spoke of the need to reinforce joint work between countries.
“To the ambassadors, the head of state conveyed the message of the imperative to consolidate relations of friendship and cooperation, in the bilateral and multilateral spheres, and to cultivate actions in various areas of cooperation, such as agriculture, industry, health, education, among others,” was the president’s message.
President Filipe Nyusi thanked the countries represented for their support in the socio-economic development of Mozambique.
