Mozambique: President interacts with Tanzanian counterpart | Unabridged

The President of the Republic Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, held today, 1 July 2020, a telephone conversation with the President of the United Republic of Tanzania and SADC’s current chairperson, John Pombe Magufuli, in which the two statesmen shared matters of common interest to both countries.

During the conversation, the President of the Republic of Tanzania congratulated President Nyusi on the passing of the forty-fifth anniversary of National Independence, and highlighted the good times in the cooperative relations, and reiterating his commitment to reinforcing them.

The two statesmen widely discussed the fight against COVID-19, and shared experiences from each country. The President of Tanzania and Chairperson of SADC exchanged views with the Mozambican Head of State on the situation in the region, and also discussed the possible model for the organisation’s next Summit, which is in principle is scheduled for next August. .

Another theme that deserved greater attention from the two statesmen was cooperation in the field of Defence and Security, with emphasis on combating terrorism in both countries and in the region, where the two parties agreed to strengthen their coordination in the fight against this common enemy. .

MAPUTO, 01 DE JULHO DE 2020 – O Presidente da República Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, manteve, hoje, 01 de Julho de 2020, uma conversa telefónica com o Presidente da República da Tanzania e Presidente em Exercício da SADC, John Pombe Magufuli, na qual os dois estadistas partilharam assuntos de interesse comum para os dois países.

Durante a conversa, o Presidente da República da Tanzania felicitou o Presidente Nyusi pela passagem do quadragésmo quinto aniversário da Independência Nacional, e destacou os bons momentos das relações de cooperação, e reiterando o seu compromisso em reforçá-las.

Os dois estadistas discutiram largamente sobre o combate à COVID-19, e partilharam experiências de cada país. O Presidente da Tanzania e Presidente em Exercício da SADC trocou impressões com o Chefe do Estado moçambicano sobre a situação na região, e ainda discutiram o modelo possível para a realização da próxima Cimeira da organização, que em princípio está agendada para o próximo mês de Agosto.

Outro tema que mereceu a maior atenção dos dois estadistas, foi a cooperação no âmbito da Defesa e Segurança, com destaque para o combate ao terrorismo nos dois países e na região, onde as duas partes concordaram em reforçar a sua coordenação no combate contra este inimigo comum.
