Mozambique: 2,259 girls rescued from premature unions since 2019

The President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, on Thursday conveyed condolences to the President of the Republic of South Africa , Cyril Ramaphosa, over the consequences of a fire that broke out in a building in Johannesburg.
On his official Facebook account, the Head of State says he has watched with sadness the tragedy caused by a fire in a residential building.
“I watched with sadness the tragedy caused by a fire in a residential building in the city of Johannesburg, causing the loss of dozens of lives, several injuried and extensive material damage.
“On behalf of the Government of the Republic of Mozambique and myself, I extend our deepest condolences to Your Excellency President Ramaphosa and the bereaved families, in the hope that those injured make a speedy recovery.
“We also convey a word of appreciation to the rescue teams, who did everything to save a greater number of people, hoping that the South African nation recovers from this tragedy as swiftly as possible”.
At least 74 people, including 12 children, were confirmed dead by Thursday afternoon, according to Johannesburg Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda. Another 61 people were injured, including 17 who remain hospitalized, the Emergency Management Services said.
