President of the Republic Filipe Jacinto Nyusi on Wednesday completed a working visit to Qatar. which included participating in the Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
On Tuesday (22), in addition to participating in the GECF plenary session, the Mozambican head of state held meetings with the presidents of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema, with the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Keith Rowley, and other dignitaries.

Also on Tuesday, the President met Mozambicans living and working in Qatar, with whom he discussed recent events in Mozambique, such as the development of the fight against terrorism.
In turn, Mozambicans in Qatar showed their support for the Government of Mozambique, observing that, even though far from the country, they still followed the socio-political situation in Mozambique closely, and praised the Government’s efforts to resolve the terrorism situation in Cabo Delgado.
In his participation in the plenary session of the 6th Summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, President Nyusi said that the exploitation of Mozambique’s natural gas reserves should be a factor in promoting peace and stability in the country.
“From our perspective, natural gas should constitute a factor of peace, of stability, security and promotion of development in our countries,” the Mozambican head of state said. The President added that the start-up of the floating platform of the Coral Sul LNG project, led by the Italian multinational Eni, and planned for the second half of this year, would mark a new era.
“This is a structuring project capable of generating a great impact on state revenues, of increasing exports, and on local content and on job creation,” President Nyusi said.
