Mozambique has the highest road accident rates in Southern Africa - Minister

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, has dismissed Pedro Commissário Afonso from the post of Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.
A statement from the Presidency, sent on Tuesday to ‘O País’, says that Pedro Comissário’s resignation was by presidential order.
Pedro Comissário had held the position of Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation since February of this year.
On Monday, the presidency announced that the President had dismissed António Gumende from the post of ambassador and permanent representative of Mozambique to the United Nations.
A former journalist, Gumende previously served as Mozambican High Commissioner in England and Northern Ireland, writes the Mozambican Information Agency (AIM), where he also worked.

In the course of his journalistic career, Gumende participated in the founding of the journalists’ cooperative Mediacoop, owner of the weekly Savana, and, during a period when he lived in Zimbabwe, was a contributor to several media outlets, AIM added.
