President Filipe Nyusi on Tuesday dismissed Gabriel Ismael Salimo from the post of Minister of Science and Technology, Higher and Technical and Professional Education, according to a statement from the presidency.
Gabriel Ismael Salimo took office in January this year, replacing Jorge Nhambiu as part of the new government formed following the victory of Filipe Nyusi and the Mozambican Liberation Front (Frelimo) in the 2019 general elections.
The statement from the Mozambican presidency does not advance any reason for Gabriel Ismael Salimo’s dismissal
In a separate presidential order, the Mozambican head of state dismissed Agostinho Francisco Langa Júnior from the post of Secretary of State for Higher and Technical-Professional Education.
In addition to the two dismissals, the Mozambican president by decree extinguished the Ministry of Science and Technology, Higher and Technical and Professional Education, creating out of it two separate entities: the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education, and the Secretariat of State for Technical and Professional Education.
