Mozambique calls for immediate action to halt drought and desertification in Africa

President Daniel Chapo will attend the High-Level Week of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), taking place in New York City from today through next Tuesday.
While in New York, the Head of State will not only participate in the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly but also hold bilateral meetings with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and other prominent figures attending the High-Level Week.”
President Chapo will also participate in various high-level forums, where he will serve as a keynote speaker. Notably, he will address the Columbia Africa Conference 2025 at Columbia University.
His agenda further includes participation in the Africa-America Institute’s 41st Annual Gala, the Africa Energy Forum organized by the Atlantic Council, and a formal reception hosted by U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump for Heads of State and Government attending the UNGA.
The President will be accompanied by First Lady Gueta Chapo, along with a high-level delegation comprising:
Senior officials from the Presidency and other state institutions are also part of the official delegation.
