President of Mozambique Daniel Chapo called in Algiers yesterday for the establishment of direct air links between African countries to curb dependence on other continents and streamline tourism, trade and logistics on the continent.
“I am absolutely certain that most of the people in this room had to travel to other continents to get here to Algiers. We have to work (…) on air links between us Africans,” said Daniel Chapo, who has been visiting Algeria since Wednesday.
For the Mozambican president, establishing air links between African countries means being able to reach neighbouring African countries without having to travel via other continents.
“Only in this way will we be able to make tourism, trade, and African logistics more flexible and develop our continent, especially our countries,” he stated.
Daniel Chapo began a four-day working visit to Algeria on Wednesday, during which he will deepen bilateral relations between the two states, according to a statement from the presidency.
Daniel Chapo participated yesterday in Algiers in the inauguration of the 4th edition of the Intra-African Trade Fair, organized by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank). The event will run until the 10th with the aim of “boosting trade and investment in Africa.”
“During his stay, President Daniel Chapo will reaffirm Mozambique’s commitment to continental economic integration and the strengthening of strategic partnerships in the field of trade and investment,” the presidency note explains.
