The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, received a delegation from Africa50 this afternoon, headed by its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Alain Ebobissé, to discuss investment opportunities in the infrastructure sector in Mozambique. The meeting reinforced the financial institution’s commitment to supporting the country’s development, with an emphasis on energy, transport and digital communications.
“It was an honour to be received by the President of Mozambique, President Chapo. I represent Africa50, which is an infrastructure investment fund owned by 32 African countries, including Puerto Rico, Mozambique and the African Bank, to help finance infrastructure projects in Africa,” Alain Ebobissé said at the end of the meeting.
Three priority areas for investment in the country were discussed during the meeting.
According to the CEO of Africa50, President Chapo’s vision is to transform Mozambique into an energy hub in Africa, an objective for which Africa50 has expressed its full support.
In addition to the energy sector, Africa50 intends to invest in transport infrastructure projects, which are essential for economic integration and regional development.
“We also discussed projects in the area of transport, as well as initiatives in the area of communication and digital transformation. The president is very committed to implementing these projects with us, and intends to move forward quickly,” said Ebobissé.
Africa50 reaffirmed its decision to support Mozambique, highlighting the favourable conditions for investment.
“We are very pleased to be able to contribute to the growth of this great country, under the great leadership of the president. We believe that Mozambique has enormous potential and offers an attractive environment for investment,” stressed the Africa50 CEO.
Despite the existing challenges, Ebobissé highlighted the importance of ensuring sustainable and inclusive investments.
“We need to ensure that we invest in projects that promote inclusive economic growth, benefiting the people of Mozambique and, more broadly, the entire African continent,” he added.
The partnership between Mozambique and Africa50 opens up promising prospects for the modernisation of the country’s infrastructure, contributing to economic growth and improving the living conditions of the population.
Rapid implementation of the projects discussed could boost Mozambique’s position in the African economic landscape.
