Mozambique’s president, Filipe Nyusi, has called for calm among doctors in the face of strike threats made by groups representing them in protest against the new Single Salary Table (TSU) for public employees, saying that the government is seeking solutions.
“We are not afraid to solve problems, we are attentive to all concerns,” said Nyusi, who was speaking on Wednesday with health personnel in Niassa province, northern Mozambique.
The Mozambican head of state considered the anomalies that are being detected in the implementation of the TSU to be normal and emphasized the executive’s commitment to correcting the deficiencies in the process.
“In a process like this, problems arise, but don’t be afraid,” stressed Filipe Nyusi.
The new salary matrix, he continued, aims to correct persistent salary injustices in the Civil Service, characterized by salary differences between employees of the same professional category.
“For many years, there had been no work carried out concerning situations where there are those who receive more in one sector and less in others”, he stressed.

Through a note issued on October 28, the Medical Association of Mozambique threatened to carry out a national strike to contest irregularities in its framework in the TSU, approved this month by parliament.
“The strike will last for 21 days, extendable, starting at 7:00 am on November 7”, said the Medical Association of Mozambique, the day after a national meeting of the class that brought together doctors from all over the country.
In letters published in the media, groups of teachers also threaten to paralyze the activity and boycott the exams that will start in the coming weeks, complaining about errors in the integration in the new salary scales in the State.
On Wednesday morning, dozens of employees of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Mozambique gathered outside the institution’s headquarters in Maputo, protesting against errors in framing the new salary scale in force in the state.
The employees dispersed a few hours later, still in the morning, spontaneously, under the watchful eye of elements of the Rapid Intervention Unit Police (UIR) and of the Protection Police.
Following these actions by the professional classes, the Ministry of Economy and Finance convened a press conference to ensure that a commission was created, with a term of office of one year, to respond, within 15 days, of each complaint by civil servants. about the new salary table, warning of the damage caused by strikes in the state.
“The commission has a term of office of one year” and “it has a period of 15 days to settle potential complaints that are sent to it”, said the deputy minister of Economy and Finance, Amílcar Tivane.
