Mozambique: Deputies "must be agents for solutions, not complications"

The President of the Republic of Mozambique on Monday appointed Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas to the post of extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Mozambique to the kingdom of Spain.
Filipe Nyusi made the appointment by presidential order, through powers conferred on him by the Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique.
Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas replaces José António Alberto Matsinhe, who was dismissed from his post through another presidential order, also issued on Monday.
Maria Lucas was born in November, 1961, in the city of Matola, Maputo province.
A diplomat and politician, she joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981, and was assigned to the Embassy of Mozambique in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in 1986.
From 1995 to 1996, she served as Mozambican consul in Cape Town, South Africa.
Among other functions, Maria Lucas acted, from 1997 to 1999, as Counsellor at the Embassy of Mozambique in Brasília, Brazil.
