Mozambique Elections: Members of Provincial Assemblies to take office on January 20

President Filipe Nyusi today appointed José Mateus Muária Katupha as extraordinary ambassador of Mozambique to the Russian Federation, according to a statement from the office of the President of the Republic.
Mateus Katupha will replace Mário Saraiva Ngwenha, who was dismissed yesterday by Presidential Order from the post of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Mozambique to the Russian Federation, the Republic of Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus.
Mateus Kathupa served as Minister of Culture and Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports from 1990 to 1999, under former President Joaquim Chissano, He was a deputy to the Assembly of the Republic for the Mozambican Liberation Front (Frelimo), the ruling party, having served as the spokesman for the Parliament’s Standing Commission.
