The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, has announced that Mozambicans over the age of 30 and residing in the national territory will be vaccinated in a mass campaign over the next three months.
The head of state said that, despite the limited availability of Covid-19 vaccines on the international market, the government would do everything in its power to immunise the bulk of Mozambicans.
Addressing the nation last Thursday (23-09) from Pemba, Cabo Delgado province, regarding ongoing actions to prevent and combat the new coronavirus in the country, the head of state noted that over 1.7 million people had already received the two vaccine shots required.
President Nyusi announced some relief in the restrictive measures pertaining to the Public Calamity situation, with the reopening of places of worship, pre-school institutions, beaches for bathers, theatres, museums and cinemas authorised from Saturday (25-09), and the curfew throughout the country being effective from 11:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m..
The head of state emphasised that respect for the restrictive measures and other conditions of the decree would be a key factor in shortening the period of inconvenience the country was obliged to endure.
