Mozambique: President announces the restructuring of the Defence and Security Forces – Noticias

The President of the Republic announced on Wednesday November (10) the restructuring of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS), with a view to responding effectively to the challenges facing the country, with an emphasis on terrorism.

Speaking at the end of the training courses for sergeants of the Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM, members of the FDS), in Boane district, Maputo province, Filipe Nyusi said that this is an action which has been taking place for some time, though its effects are not immediate.

Even without giving many details, the Commander-in-Chief of the FDS stated that the idea is that the FADM continue to be of excellence for the defence of the motherland and national interests, consolidating itself more and more as the forge of national unity.

To that end, the President said, there is a need to guarantee the National Defence Policy’s successful execution with a range of available staff to help operationalise the transmitted missions.

“In a few days I will elaborate more on this matter, in the context of the restructuring of the Defence and Security Forces”, said the Head of State.

Specifically on the training of FADM sergeants, Nyusi stated that the Government’s expectation is that everything taught in the training reaches all the Armed Forces and is reflected in their tactical and operational functioning.

President Nyusi explained that sergeants play a crucial role in ensuring that the Army is disciplined and well commanded, as they ensure the liaison between officers and soldiers for the benefit of a fully functioning force structure, from bottom to top.

Specifically, the President of the Republic highlighted the fact that the FDS are on the offensive, characterised by the cleaning up and consolidation of their presence in places previously occupied by terrorists in Cabo Delgado, hence the challenge of the sergeants who graduated yesterday is to contribute to the soldiers are in combat readiness.

“I was proud to know that your training was at the North Operational Theatre, where you fought and returned to continue your training. In this sense, I advise you to set an example for soldiers regarding the good practices they have learned and assimilated”, he exhorted.

“It is your task to ensure that Mozambique continues to be an independent, sovereign, united and indivisible, democratic state, with intact territorial integrity, social justice and with its people living in an environment of peace and tranquillity,” he said.

PR anuncia reestruturação das FDS

O Presidente da República anunciou hoje (10) a reestruturação das Forças de Defesa e Segurança (FDS), com vista a responderem de forma eficaz aos desafios que o país enfrenta, com destaque para o terrorismo.

Falando no encerramento dos cursos de formação de sargentos das Forças Armadas de Defesa de Moçambique (FADM, integrantes das FDS), no distrito de Boane, na província de Maputo, Filipe Nyusi disse que se trata de uma acção que vem decorrendo há algum tempo, mas que os seus efeitos não são imediatos.

Mesmo sem dar muitos detalhes, o Comandante-Chefe das FDS afirmou que a ideia é que as FADM continuem a ser de excelência para a defesa da pátria e dos interesses nacionais, consolidando-se cada vez mais como a forja da unidade nacional.

Para tal, referiu, há necessidade de se garantir a execução com sucesso da Política da Defesa Nacional, com um leque de quadros disponíveis para ajudar a operacionalizar as missões transmitidas.

“Dentro de dias voltarei a elaborar mais sobre esta matéria, no âmbito da reestruturação das Forças de Defesa e Segurança”, assegurou o Chefe do Estado.

Especificamente sobre a formação de sargentos das FADM, Nyusi afirmou que a expectativa do Governo é que tudo o que foi ensinado na formação chegue a todas as Forças Armadas e se reflicta no seu funcionamento táctico e operativo.

O Presidente Nyusi explicou que os sargentos desempenham um papel crucial para que o Exército seja disciplinado e bem comandado, pois garantem a ligação entre os oficiais e os soldados, em benefício do pleno funcionamento da estrutura das forças, da base ao topo.

De forma específica, o Presidente da República destacou o facto de as FDS estarem na ofensiva, caracterizada pela limpeza e consolidação da sua presença nos locais anteriormente ocupados pelos terroristas em Cabo Delgado, daí o desafio dos sargentos ontem graduados ser o de contribuir para que os soldados estejam em prontidão combativa.

“Fiquei orgulhoso por saber que o vosso tirocínio foi no Teatro Operacional Norte, onde combateram e voltaram para continuar com a vossa formação. Neste sentido, oriento-vos a servirem de exemplo para os soldados no concernente às boas práticas que aprenderam e assimilaram”, exortou.

“É vossa tarefa assegurar que Moçambique continue a ser um Estado independente, soberano, uno e indivisível, democrático, com integridade territorial intacta, de justiça social e com a sua população vivendo num ambiente de paz e tranquilidade”, disse.
