The President of the Republic says that the March 8 Generation represents a symbol of courage and unconditional love for the homeland of Mozambique.
In greeting the members of the March 8 Generation, Daniel Chapo recalled that this group responded to a call from the homeland, in a context of many challenges for Mozambique, after Independence.
The Mozambican statesman points out that many young people became teachers in remote regions, where education was an urgent need to guarantee Mozambique’s future, while others joined the ranks of the Defense and Security Forces, protecting the territory’s sovereignty in times of adversity.
The Governor maintains that today, Mozambique continues its trajectory of growth and development, facing new challenges, but always guided by the example of resilience and patriotism left by the young people of March 8.
It is worth remembering that it was on March 8, 1977, that the then President of the Republic, Samora Machel, gave a speech to thousands of high school students, with a view to guiding them towards different areas of training, to meet the lack of qualified labor after independence.
