The Portuguese government, through the Camões Cooperation Institute, and the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) on Friday are donating medical equipment to protect against Covid-19 in Maputo province.
“The joint effort of the Portuguese government, through Camões and the AKDN will make it possible to provide free surgical masks and disposable gowns for individual protection to medical staff and other health professionals, who are in the front line of the fight against the pandemic,” said an official statement distributed to the media.
The support consists of 100,000 surgical masks and 5,000 disposable personal protective gowns for medical staff and other health professionals. The two entities had already donated in July 100,000 reusable masks as part of the action plan in the health response to the Covid-19 pandemic between Portugal and the Portuguese-language African countries and East Timor.
