The Company Portos e Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM) needs just over US$5.3 million to carry out effective dredging of the Port of Quelimane in Zambézia province, in order to allow the entry of deep-draft ships.
The Mozambican Dredging Company (EMODRAGA) says the manoeuvring and docking basin has 616 cubic metres of sediment that need removing to optimise navigational safety.
The situation was outlined in Quelimane a few days ago by local CFM delegate, Agostinho Conde, during a forum of mining operators in the province of Zambézia.
