The Port Development Society (MPDC) successfully attained its ISO 9001:2015 certification. This certification reinforces MPDC’s commitment to excellence and quality. In addition to being a significant milestone, the Port of Maputo is also the first port in Mozambique to receive this certification.
Certification is a reflection of the port’s commitment to continuous improvement of services and the search for excellence in customer service. ISO 9001:2015 certification, carried out by the internationally accredited company, Bureau Veritas, certifies that all quality management processes and systems have been assessed as complying with the most rigorous international standards.
“ISO 9001 certification is not an objective, but rather a commitment to our customers, partners and society in general,” MPDC executive director Osório Luca says.
“The objective is, yes, to achieve the next certification, as this is just the beginning of a continuous journey of improvement and innovation,” he adds.
In 2021, Maputo port was the first Port in Mozambique to obtain certification of the APLOP Brand (Association of Portuguese-sSpeaking Ports).
One of the main advantages of ISO 9001:2015 certification is the ability to maintain operational efficiency by quickly identifying and resolving issues as they arise.
