A police inspector beat his wife to death in Dondo district, in Sofala, central Mozambique, for reasons of passion, the provincial police spokesman, Dércio Chacate told reporters on Wednesday.
Dércio Chacate said that the murder took place on Sunday and the inspector was being held at Dondo district command.
“This couple lived in a constant climate of fights occasioned by some joint infidelity, so it was for passionate reasons,” Chacate added.
The alleged perpetrator is now the target of a criminal case and a court case, to answer for his actions.
“It was possible to ascertain that the injuries were sufficient motive to bring about death,” with the forensics on the victim’s body, the Sofala police spokesman said.
